DUAL HORRORS
The horror already starts at the beginning with the real horror of discrimination and suppression of humans. The white men is both times the antagonist – in historical reality and supernatural metaphor.
MUSIC & BLUES
Music is a strong bond within this community and keeps them together. It is not just a powerful tool in real life but also an actual power in the story with supernatural abilities.
STORYTELLING
The film succeeds in managing the story and its genre so well. When you think of a horror movie, you won’t think of anything like this. It is very special which makes it great.
Verdict
I can confidently say this film deserves the hype. Having a different approach of combining multiple aspects like story and genre with the theme of a historic era, makes this movie a worth to watch.
